Policies

We believe in providing our services with the greatest of integrity. We adhere to the Disability Standards and we have policies for all areas of business. The following relate to our values. The full Policy and Procedures documents are available at our registered office.

Access and Equity

Western Vocational Association Inc. acknowledges that its legal and moral responsibilities cover the areas of:

  • access in the provision of services offered Western Vocational Association Inc.
  • access in employment by Western Vocational Association Inc.
  • access in the provision of information offered by Western Vocational Association Inc.
  • access to any training and development offered by Western Vocational Association Inc.
  • access to events hosted by Western Vocational Association Inc.

The Policy integrates a set of service delivery principles concerning cultural diversity into the strategic planning, policy development, budget, and reporting processes of service delivery, irrespective of whether these services are provided by government agencies, community organisations, or commercial enterprises.

Western Vocational Association Inc. does not advocate, support or practice discrimination based on race, religion, age, national origin, language, sex, sexual orientation, or mental or physical handicap or any other personal attribute protected by law, except where affirmative action may be required to redress individual or social handicaps. Western Vocational Association Inc. will make all reasonable accommodations to allow people who experience difficulties in their dealings with the organisation to benefit equally from its work.

 

Bullying

Western Vocational Association Inc. has a duty of care to provide a safe workplace, and ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that workers and other people are not exposed to health and safety risks.

Western Vocational Association Inc. accepts and acts on its duty of care.  any reported allegations of workplace bullying will be promptly, thoroughly, and fairly investigated.

Bullying complaints will be handled in a confidential and procedurally fair manner. Where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed this will be clearly communicated to the relevant parties.

All parties will be treated with respect. The person against whom the allegation is made has the right to natural justice (the right to know what is alleged against them, the right to put their case in reply, and the right for any decision to be made by an impartial decision-maker). 

 

Confidentiality

Western Vocational Association Inc. collects and administers a range of information for a variety of purposes. Some of this information is restricted in its circulation for commercial, privacy, or ethical reasons.

Western Vocational Association Inc. will place the minimum of restrictions on the information it holds, but will ensure that such restrictions as are considered necessary are observed by its staff and volunteers.

Western Vocational Association Inc. recognises the essential right of individuals to have their information administered in ways which they would reasonably expect – protected on one hand, and made accessible to them on the other.  These privacy values are reflected in and supported by our core values and philosophies and also reflected in our Privacy Policy, which is compliant with the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth Privacy Act).

Western Vocational Association Inc. is bound by laws which impose specific obligations when it comes to handling information. The organisation has adopted the following principles contained as minimum standards in relation to handling personal information.

Western Vocational Association Inc. will

  • Collect only information which the organisation requires for its primary function;
  • Ensure that stakeholders are informed as to why we collect the information and how we administer the information gathered;
  • Use and disclose personal information only for our primary functions or a directly related purpose, or for another purpose with the person’s consent;
  • Store personal information securely, protecting it from unauthorised access; and
  • Provide stakeholders with access to their own information, and the right to seek its correction.
